How to use Rejsekort
Check in and out
1. Check in at the beginning of a journey
You must check in via a check-in card reader to have a ticket. As soon as you check in, your journey begins.
2. Check in again if you change the means of transportation
You must check in again each time you change your means of transportation during a journey.
3. Check out when the journey ends
Remember to end all of your journeys by checking out. When you check out, you will be charged for the journey. On the card reader screen, you can see the price of the journey and the balance on your Rejsekort. If you are eligible for a discount, it will automatically be deducted from the price of the journey.
You can also use check-in extra card readers and vending machines
You can also check in via the check-in extra card readers placed at stations. Place your card on the blue point of the card reader until you see an “OK” on the screen and hear a two-toned sound. You have now checked out.
You can check in and out via all Rejsekort vending machines placed at all DSB, Metro, and Arriva train stations. Place your card on the blue point and follow the instructions on the screen. The Rejsekort vending machines also have information about your balance and most recent journeys.
Place the card on the blue point until you hear a two-toned sound and see an “OK” on the screen.
When you check in, you will also see a "God rejse" notification. When you check out, you will see the price of the journey and the balance of your card.
Remember to listen to the sound signal and to read the text on the screen to make sure that you have checked in or out correctly.
The card reader will inform you
If something is wrong, the card reader will let you know. If you are moving your card too quickly past the blue point, the screen will say "Reading error, try again" and you will hear an error sound. Place the card on the blue point until it is read correctly.
The card reader will also let you know if the balance on your card is too low to check in, if your card has expired, etc.
You can travel with a group of fellow travellers with a Rejsekort Corporate.
Activate the check-in extra function by pressing the keys at the top of the card reader. Follow the instructions on the screen to group together the fellow travellers. Remember to check in yourself in order to bring fellow travellers on your card.
If you need to change the means of transportation, just check in again as usual. The group setting will be cancelled when you check out.
If you only need to check yourself in
The check-in extra card readers can also be used to check just yourself in. Place your card on the blue point until you see an ”OK” on the screen and hear a two-toned sound (as you would with a regular check-in card reader).
If you check in and out again in the same zone within 30 minutes, Rejsekort will register the journey as a continued journey. The two journeys will therefore be charged as one when you check out.
It is important to check in again when changing the means of transportation during your journey, e.g. if you change from a bus to a train or from one type of train to another. The change may affect the price of your journey.
If you do not check in again when changing the means of transportation, you may risk getting a control fee.
Problems with checking in
If all card readers and vending machines in the area are out of order, you must buy a ticket before you can begin your journey.
You are welcome to call Rejsekort Customer Service at 70 11 33 33 to report the problem.
Problems with checking out
If you are trying to check out but the card reader is out of order, you must use another card reader or a Rejsekort vending machine. If all card readers and vending machines in the area are out of order, you can register a check-out by using the Check Out app.
Inform the app that you were unable to check out and pay for your journey.
There is no charge if you check out at the same place that you checked in—and remember to do so within 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, you will be charged the minimum price of a journey, which in most parts of the country will equal two zones.
The number of zones that you travel in is correlated with the time of your journey. Each zone translates to a certain number of minutes. If your journey lasts longer than the minutes of the zones, the price of the journey will be based on the duration of the journey.
An example
A journey in three zones on Zealand must not last longer than 1.5 hours. The price of a zone is added for each 15 minutes that go over the journey’s 1.5 hours. For example, if a journey takes two hours and 10 minutes, you will end up paying for six zones (the three zones in which you have travelled plus an additional three zones for each 15 minutes longer than the 1.5 hours).
If you travel on Zealand or within a regional fare sector in Jutland, you must check out no later than five hours after your journey began. On journeys between fare sectors in Jutland and on Funen, you have eight hours to check out. If you travel across Storebælt, you must check out within 12 hours. If you travel to Malmø from Zealand, you have five hours; and from Jutland, you have 12 hours to check out.
If the maximum time is exceeded
If you do not register a check-out for a journey, and we are able to document that the journey costs more than the prepayment charged at the beginning of the journey, you will be charged an amount covering the part of the journey that exceeds the prepayment.
The amount will be deducted from the balance on your Rejsekort. The price of the journey will be based on the first check-in, the last check-in, or the last inspection during the journey.
Forgetting to check out
If your forget to check out, you will normally be charged the prepayment of your journey.
If you repeatedly forget your check-out
If you forget to check out on a number of occasions within a period of 12 months, Rejsekort A/S may block your card—but first after sending you two written warnings.
Payment for journeys without a check-out
If you do not register a check-out for a journey, and we are able to document that the journey costs more than the prepayment charged at the beginning of the journey, you will be charged an amount covering the part of the journey that exceeds the prepayment.
The amount will be deducted from the balance on your Rejsekort. The price of the journey will be based on the first check-in, the last check-in, or the last inspection during the journey.
Check in fellow travellers on one card
Up to 29 people may travel on the same card. Use the check-in extra card reader at the station and follow the instructions on the screen or ask the bus driver for assistance.
If you need to change the means of transportation, just check in again as usual. The group setting will be cancelled when you check out.
If you travel with children under 12, specific rules apply to how many children you are allowed to bring for free and how many you are supposed to pay for.

Prices and discounts
A Rejsekort Corporate offers you various discount opportunities:
- A quantity discount on each journey is earned for journeys in areas that offer quantity discounts
- Employees will get a time discount on journeys outside rush hours if the journeys take place within a regional fare sector
- If you would like to know the price of a journey, you can find it at Rejseplanen.dk
Read more about quantity discounts.
Read more about time discounts.
The discount means that:
- You will earn discounts each time an employee uses a card issued with the workplace customer number when crossing Storebælt
- If you travel with more people on one card, the discount will count for each traveller and for each distance. A return trip for five people will count as 10 journeys
- The corporate discount is calculated each calendar month and is transferred back to each Rejsekort in the following month
The contact person of your workplace will have the complete overview of the collective usage, journeys, and earned discounts from the statements received each month or through the DSB corporate portal.
To start travelling, you must have a balance on your Rejsekort that equals at least the prepayment of the journey.
The size of the prepayment depends on your customer type, which Rejsekort you are travelling with, and whether you have chosen to travel in first class. If you check in as an “Adult” customer type with a Rejsekort Personal, the prepayment is 25 kr., whereas a “Child” pays 12.50 kr.
The difference between the prepayment and the price of the journey is either reimbursed or deducted from the balance of the card that you use to travel.
The customer type determines the prepayment
The prepayment is based on your customer type and your type of Rejsekort. With a Rejsekort Corporate, an “Adult” customer type will prepay 25 kr., whereas a “Child” prepays 12.50 kr.
If you travel for more than the prepayment, the difference will be deducted from the balance on your Rejsekort when you end the journey and check out.
The journey costs more than the balance on your Rejsekort
If the balance on your Rejsekort is not enough to cover the price of the journey, you will get a notification that the balance is low when you check out.
If you do not have a top-up agreement, you must top up your card as quickly as possible so that the balance is enough for you to keep travelling.
If you have a top-up agreement, your Rejsekort will be topped up automatically.
Fare inspections
The fare inspectors will send information about where and when the inspection took place from your card to the Rejsekort system. The information is used to calculate the price of a journey in case you forget to check out after a journey.
The fare inspectors can request to see verification that you are eligible to travel with a certain Rejsekort or as the customer type that the card is adjusted to. Consequently, you must be able to present an ID if it is requested.
Rejsekort Customer Service does not handle complaints about control fees. You must contact the public transport operator that issued the control fee through its website and make a complaint directly to the operator.
Lost card
You can block a Rejsekort Corporate by calling the public transport operator that issued the card and that administers the general agreement of your workplace. You can also call Rejsekort Customer Service at 70 11 33 33 and block your card 24 hours a day.
If you call on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., please dial “1” and then “2”. If you call outside opening hours, please dial “2”.
If you want to transfer a discount level to a new Rejsekort
If you block the lost Rejsekort during opening hours, your contact person can order a new card similar to the lost one if needed. The customer type and discount level will then be transferred to the new card.
Please note that reordering a card can only be done by your contact person.
