From card to app

From card to app

No, you cannot link your physical Rejsekort to the Rejsekort app. They are two different systems.

Your Commuter Card and your e-wallet from your physical Rejsekort cannot be transferred to the Rejsekort app.

Yes, there are the following differences to keep in mind when traveling with Rejsekort as an app:

1) You must check in via the app on your phone before boarding the transport, and only check out via the app after you have disembarked.

This is especially important to remember on buses, where with the Rejsekort as a card, you can check out before getting off. If you check out with Rejsekort app while still on the bus, before getting off, it may be considered misuse and could result in a fine during inspection.

2) You do not need to check in again when switching between different modes of transport during the same journey.

3) You should only check out when your entire journey is finished. If you forget to check out, it will be done automatically the following night. You can also choose to enable 'Smart Check Out' in your settings.

4) Once you have checked out, your journey is completed, and you will be billed for the completed journey. If you check in again, you will be billed for a new journey. Your journeys are not combined as they are with Rejsekort as a card.

5) You don’t need to top up your Rejsekort – all completed journeys for the day using Rejsekort as an app are calculated and paid daily via your linked payment method.

6) In the Rejsekort as an app, it is the start time of the journey (the departure time of the mode of transport) that determines whether the journey falls within the time period for a time discount - and not the check-in time, as is the case with the Rejsekort as a card.

No. The funds from your Rejsekort as a card cannot be transferred to Rejsekort as an app because, in this version of the app, you pay for your journeys once a day via MobilePay. In later versions, it will also be possible to pay via credit card.

You can still use your Rejsekort as a card for public transport until the balance is depleted. After that, you can switch to using Rejsekort as an app exclusively.

If you wish to have the remaining balance from your Rejsekort as a card refunded, you have the following options:

  • If you have a Rejsekort Personal, you can block it via Self-service or by calling +45 70 11 33 33 and have the remaining balance refunded. Please note that your Rejsekort as a card will be closed once the balance is refunded.
  • If you have a Rejsekort Anonymous, you can have the remaining balance refunded by calling the Rejsekort Customer Service at +45 70 11 33 33 and requesting a form.
  • If you prefer personal service, you can also have the remaining balance refunded at sales points. You can find the nearest sales point on rejsekort.dk.

Due to extraordinary demand, you may experience longer refund processing times than usual. We are working to complete all payments as quickly as possible and in the order they are received.

New features

In the Rejsekort app, it is currently possible to travel with the customer types 'Adult' (26-66 years), 'Youth' (18-25 years), and 'Senior' (67 years and older).

During 2025, the following customer types will also be able to travel using the Rejsekort app:

  • Senior under 67 years
  • Child
  • Business
  • Disabled

In 2025, the following functionalities will also be available:

  • Traveling with companions and pets/bicycles.

The current Rejsekort system is reaching the end of its technological lifespan and will eventually need to be phased out. Using credit cards or the phone's NFC chip for check-in would require significant further development of the system. We have therefore assessed that the benefits for you as a customer do not justify the financial investment and time required to implement such an upgrade.

Solutions like those in London, for example, require physical equipment where the traveller checks in with their credit card.

Our task is to cover all of Denmark across bus, train, metro and Letbane, which we have so far managed with the existing Rejsekort.

There are no other nationwide solutions across all means of transport based solely on credit cards.

Rejsekort as a card

Yes, you can still use your Rejsekort as a card.

Please note that you can only see your journeys on your Rejsekort as card when you log in to Self Service. Similarly, in the app, you will only be able to see the journeys that you have taken with Rejsekort as an app.

Please be aware that any discount levels earned on one will not be registered on the other. You can transfer your earned discount levels from your Rejsekort as a card to Rejsekort as an app. Read more about this option in the app under the "Discounts" menu and then "Volume Discount".

Note that you can only transfer your volume discount once. If you continue to use Rejsekort as a card after the transfer, any further earned volume discount will not be transferred to the app.

Yes, we recommend that you keep your Rejsekort as a card until all the features you need as a traveler are added to the app. With your Rejsekort as a card, you can still, for example, bring a companion, your dog, and your bicycle. These features will be available later in Rejsekort as an app.

Since the two Rejsekort types are not integrated regarding payment, we also recommend that you stop any automatic top-ups on your Rejsekort as a card and reduce its balance as much as possible.

When you wish to close your Rejsekort as a card and only use Rejsekort as an app, go to Self-Service and select the relevant Rejsekort. In the field, click on the red X to block the card. Once blocked, the card cannot be reopened.

After blocking/closing your Rejsekort as a card, your balance will be calculated, and any remaining amount will be transferred to your Nemkonto within approximately 14 working days. Please note that due to extraordinary busyness, there may be longer processing times for refunds. We are working to complete all refunds as quickly as possible after receiving the request.

You can also contact the Rejsekort Customer Center at phone number 70 11 33 33 for assistance with blocking the card. If you have an Anonymous Rejsekort, you need to call the above number and request a form. You can find more information about closing an Anonymous Rejsekort here:

No, Self-service is only available for the Rejsekort as a card.

You can find all the functions and information about Rejsekort as an app directly in the app. Just click on the three horizontal lines in the top left corner, and you will see all the options in the menu.

You can still use Rejsekort as a card as usual. The current Rejsekort as a card and the blue check-in points will remain until we have launched solutions that can replace the system.

Rejsekort as an app is one of the most requested products from our customers. At the same time, the current Rejsekort system has reached the end of its technological lifespan and will need to be phased out over time. The blue check-in points require a lot of maintenance, and many customers find it inconvenient and annoying to remember to check in and out with Rejsekort as a card, especially when changing between different means of transport.

We know that there are customers who, for various reasons, do not want to or are unable to use the app, which is why we are developing an alternative solution. This solution will involve a card and a type of equipment like the current Rejsekortsystem. We will give notice well in advance before any changes to Rejsekort as a card are made.

If you have questions, you can contact Rejsekort Customer Center on +45 70 11 33 33. All weekdays from 8AM to 4PM.
