New features

With Rejsekort as an app, you can travel as customer type 'Adult' (over 18 years old).

To accommodate the desire for better payment options, the possibility of payment by credit card will be added as early as 2024.

During 2024, we will also offer these customer types:

  • Young Person (18-25 years old)
  • Pensioner (over 67 years old)

In 2025, the following customer types will be able to travel with the Rejsekort app:

  • Child
  • Business
  • Disabled Person

In 2025, these functionalities will become available:

  • Accompanying travellers and Pets/Bicycles

The current Rejsekort system is reaching the end of its technological lifespan and will eventually need to be phased out. Using credit cards or the phone's NFC chip for check-in would require significant further development of the system. We have therefore assessed that the benefits for you as a customer do not justify the financial investment and time required to implement such an upgrade.

Solutions like those in London, for example, require physical equipment where the traveller checks in with their credit card.

Our task is to cover all of Denmark across bus, train, metro and Letbane, which we have so far managed with the existing Rejsekort.

There are no other nationwide solutions across all means of transport based solely on credit cards.

Language selection

Rejsekort as an app supports both Danish and English. The language of Rejsekort as an app is determined by the language setting of your phone.

So, if you want to switch the language from English to Danish or vice versa, you need to change the language in your phone's settings, not in the app.

Location data

To accurately register your journey using Rejsekort as an app, you need to enable the app's location and localisation services.

When do we use your location?

  • We register location data when Rejsekort as an app is visible on your screen or when you are checked in via the app
  • If you open the app without checking in, and the app is running in the background, i.e. behind another app, we do not have access to your location data
  • When you are checked in via the app, we use your location data only to map your journey by matching the GPS coordinates of your phone with the stations or stops you pass and schedules from Rejseplanen
  • We stop registering your location information once you have checked out and the system has calculated your route and price

We use your location only to:

  • Map your journey
  • Document your journey
  • Calculate the correct price for the journey
  • Remind you to check out
  • Automatically check you out (Smart check-out feature in the app)
  • Ensure that you remain checked in and have a valid ticket if the app or your phone unexpectedly shuts down

Why do I need to set location sharing to 'Always Allow' on my iPhone?

If you have an iPhone, you need to set location sharing to 'Always allow'. Apple's operating system is configured in such a way that travellers need to select 'Always Allow' to allow us to ensure that:

  • The ticket remains valid even if the app is closed by you or shuts down due to updates etc.
  • We also use your location to remind you to check out if we see that you are no longer travelling but are still checked in via the app.

We strive to deliver the best possible user experience when you travel by public transport using Rejsekort as an app. You can read more about our data processing in our Privacy Policy.

We store your travel data for 36 months from the registration of the information. After this period, your travel data will be anonymised and can no longer be linked to you. You can read why we do this in our Privacy Policy here:

As a public transport passenger, you have the right to file a complaint up to 36 months after your journey.

To process any potential complaints, we retain your travel data for 36 months from the date of registration, and during this period, your account will be deactivated rather than deleted.
